FOTR Board meets at Ping's Grill to elect Officers

There have also been a number of tasks that have been undertaken or are ongoing since our last public meeting. Here is a brief status report on those activities::
1. Hold a minimum of three public meetings to raise community support DONE 2. File for Incorporation with State of Georgia DONE 3. Identify pro bono CPA support DONE 4. Establish Bylaws DONE 5. Identify Board Members DONE 6. File all legal paperwork with the IRS to qualify as 501(C)(3) IN PROGRESS 7. Complete Memorandum of Understanding with City of Toccoa DONE 8. Elect Executive Committee Officers DONE 9. Meet with Holly Theatre Board for “Best Practices” discussion PENDING 10. Establish formal quantifiable goals for the first year of operation of Friends of the Ritz Inc. PENDING 11. Identify and prioritize various elements of specific fundraising campaigns and benefits PENDING 12. Execute specific fundraising endeavors PENDING 13. Schedule quarterly public concerts or performances as fundraising proceeds allow PENDING
The next major hurdle is to file Form 1023 with the IRS to seek 501(c)(3) status. Once that is obtained we will be able to begin our fundraising activities as a legally sanctioned tax deductible non-profit organization. We would not be able to accomplish this huge undertaking without the help of CPA Katie Peeples and the support of her firm Johnson & Fields, LLC. THANK YOU KATIE!
